Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year, 2024 - Alice Armstrong’s Official Response
Hello, my angels.
I'm beyond thrilled to share some incredible news that wouldn't be possible without your extraordinary support.
On the 25th of April, I was honoured to be awarded Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards, hosted by Paul Jones and sponsored by Marshall.
Nominees for each category are carefully selected by a voting board comprising over 1,500 industry professionals and Federation Members (become a member here). The winners, however, are determined by a public vote, which this year garnered a record number of responses.
To be nominated alongside such remarkable artists including Dom Martin, Connor Selby, Emma Wilson, and Troy Redfern was an honour in itself. I never for a moment imagined I'd actually be taking home the trophy at such an early stage of my career, but the overwhelming support from my beautiful fans made the impossible possible.
Not only that, my latest single, 'Life I Chose,' was played last night on BBC Radio 2, with the fabulous Cerys Matthews inviting me to join her on the show sometime. What a mind-blowing honour.
On the night of the awards ceremony, I stood before the crowd, barefoot and overwhelmed, muddling through an utterly improvised acceptance speech after being presented the award by the sensational artist and good friend, Elles Bailey. Little did I know that my following words, and the fact that I wasn’t wearing any shoes, would be shared with the nation on BBC Radio 2 four days later. 😂
Being an artist is a team effort and I am nothing without my ‘A-team’. They are the support network that keeps me going, learning and striving daily to be a better musician. I have them to thank for making me the artist I am today, they do so much for me that I hope to be able to repay one day.
I would last, but by no means least, like to thank all the wonderful fans and music lovers who continue to support both myself and live music in general. You are the lifeblood of the scene.
